BLACK IRON RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

BLACK IRON is the event for ethical players who are committed to good sportsmanship.

Below rules have been minimized to provide the most immersive experience and fun during the game. Rules are meant to provide basic understanding of what cannot be done and eliminate any disputes. Rules may be adjusted to better fit particular scenario with the agreement of all players.

CODE OF ETHICS

There are four fundamental code of ethics rules that every participant must adhere to. Failure to do so will result in ejection from the event.

  • Act with safety in mind for yourself, other participants, non-participants, and property.
  • Act honourably, honestly, justly, responsibly, and legally.
  • Advance and protect the sport.
  • Have fun and do not prevent others from having fun.

ENGAGING OPPONENT

You must aim at the opponent and have a clear line of sight to make a successful shot.

Opponents behind cover can not killed.

Opponents in smoke cannot be shot.

Opponents within 6m of 180 degree firing arch may not be shot at and cannot be aimed at.

HIT RULES

  • Target must be clearly identified before making a shot.
  • A player must call hit when being shot at while not in cover or have explosive device detonating in range.
  • A player may not be aware of being shot at. Attacker must use radio to announce the kill on common channel.
    • Player may still not be aware, so be sure to communicate to ref and consider opposing player as still in-game until player identifies oneself otherwise.

COVER

  • There are 2 types of cover:
    • Hard cover – solid object
    • Soft cover – soft object like brush, smoke.
  • The upper body must be in cover
  • Crawl while breaking the line of sight between the upper body and the shooter
    • tall grass is an example of breaking line of sight
  • Smoke breaks line of sight and masks movement
  • A body of another player is considered to be a hardcover

MOVEMENT

  • Players must constantly change position and move at least 5m away after exceeding 2 min in cover
  • A player may remain concealed and in cover if using a sniper rifle

Exception:

  • Players may ignore the limit and stay in cover if setting up an ambush as a group

EQUIPMENT

Grenade

  • Kills everyone in a 5m radius if not behind hardcover
  • Can be any Airsoft grenade that emits sound or improvised noise emitting device
    • Grenade must NOT eject any projectiles such as BBs.

Smoke

  • Acts as soft cover
  • Cold burning smoke only
