BLACK IRON SAFETY REGULATIONS

It is very important for every participant of the BLACK IRON to follow below safety rules and handle firearms safely. Even though we use blank rounds and non-restricted firearms, we still must follow federal and local laws..

Failure to comply may result in ejection from the event and/or being handed over to local law enforcement.

EYE AND HEARING PROTECTION

  • Eye protection must be worn at all times during the simulation.
  • Eye protection must meet the ANSI Z87.1 standard.
  • All participants must wear adequate hearing protection during the simulation.

FIREARMS SAFETY

SAFE HANDLING

  • Everyone must make their firearm safe at the end of each simulation.
  • At any point in time, a participant may be asked to prove their firearm is safe.
  • Be sure to prepare your firearm at home.
  • Firearms are not to be left unattended at any point in time.

FIREARMS

  • ONLY Non-Restricted.
  • Participants who bring restricted or prohibited firearms will not be permitted to participate.
  • All weapons must pass inspection by licensed staff.
  • Weapons, magazines, and ammo can be inspected at any time by staff.
  • The participant must inspect his/her blank fire weapon every time before and after each simulation scenario.

The minimum engagement distance is 6m with a safety fan of 180 degrees from the muzzle. Participants using blank fire weapons must use typical blank fire safety measures and know the potential dangers inherent with their use. Only participants with that knowledge and skills may use a blank fire weapon.

AMMUNITION

  • At any point in time during the simulation, only BLANK ammunition is permitted to be loaded into the firearm.
  • NO LIVE AMMUNITION at any time during the event! PERIOD!
  • Any live ammunition discovered will be confiscated and locked up until the end of the event.
  • Expect your gear to be inspected before entering the simulation area as well as during any point in time throughout the event.
  • Anyone handling live firearm ammunition during the event will be permanently banned from current and any further events.

LICENSING

  • Everyone who handles a firearm must present their PAL upon arrival.
  • Those who do not own PAL and will use a firearm must be supervised by a licensed individual. Only one unlicensed participant may be supervised by the license holder.
  • Supervising individuals count as participants must follow the rules of the event.
  • Individuals handling firearms must demonstrate the ability to re-assemble and perform a functions check on the firearm.
  • Individuals handling firearms must be able to PROVE firearm SAFE

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

  • Zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol will be enforced during the the event.
  • Individuals who arrive while under influence will not be permitted to enter the property and will not receive any refund.
  • Regardless of any provincial laws, all narcotic and hallucinogenic drugs are banned. This includes prescribed drugs.

GENERAL DO NOT DO’s

DO NOT:

  • insert magazine into the firearm without making sure that every single round inside of it is blank.
  • point the muzzle at others when not using a weapon.
  • point the muzzle at others who are within 6m range and 180-degree safety fan.
  • shoot at/with participants who are within 6m range and 180-degree safety fan.
  • blind fire.
  • discharge firearm after a cease-fire has been called.
  • shoot rifle with one hand.
  • hip fire.
  • shout phrases that may insult others and their beliefs before shooting.
  • express radical political ideologies.
  • break municipal, provincial and/or federal law.

VIOLATION OF RULES

  • Violating any of the above rules and requirements may result in a permanent ban from all events.
  • Disrespect of the staff or other participants will not be tolerated. Those who are found to do so will be ejected from the event without a refund.
  • Participants who attempt to steal, cause bodily harm or break any other federal or provincial law will be handed over to local law enforcement officials.
